“Arresting Powers and Procedures of Drug Regulatory Officers: A review based on Honorable Supreme Court Judgment”

IPGA (Kerala State Branch) in association organized a webinar for regulatory officers across the country on the topic “Arresting Powers and Procedures of Drug Regulatory Officers: A review based on Honorable Supreme Court Judgment”. Dr. Atul Kumar Nasa, President, IPGA, inaugurated the webinar and Mr. Jayan PM, Drugs Controller, Kerala State was the Guest of INDIAN PHARMACY GRADUATE’S ASSOCIATION KERALA STATE BRANCH Honour in the function. Mr. Premnath, Senior Grade Assistant Public Prosecutor, Directorate of Prosecutions, Government of Kerala was the speaker of the webinar. It was a great success with the participation of 150 plus participants across the country.

IPGA Kerala Activity

After the last CEC Meeting in Delhi, IPGA, Kerala branch jointly with KPG conducted National seminar called Kerala Pharmacy Congress (KPC 2023) on 25 and 26th of February 2023, a national Pharma Seminar at St. James College of Pharmacy, Chalakkudy, for the first time in Kerala. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Montu Kumar Patel, President, PCI. The programme has presence of national President of IPGA, Dr, Atul Kumar Nasa, Drugs Controller, Kerala, Mr. Jayan MP, President IDMA, South, Mr. Jayaseelan, Dr. Mohan Kunnemmel, VC, Kerala University of Health Sciences, National President, AIDCCO Mr. Raj Bhanu. Inauguration It was a mega programme with 1400 registrations including teachers and students. Awards given to stalwarts of Pharmacy in Kerala. National symposiums were conducted. Poster presentations were arranged and price distributed. 2. The General body of the IPGA, Kerala was convened on 25th February at Chalakkudy with more than 40 attendees. Dr. Atul Kumar Nasa had a very vibrant interaction with all the members from various faculties of IPGA in detail. Major issues were discussed. Detailed deliberations were out on membership development. 20 members are already ready for joining IPGA in April. Another 30 will join in another 3-4 weeks. 3. We have already had initial discussions with the CEO, Start UP Mission, Govt of Kerala Mr.Anoop Ambika, for conducting a one day seminar for 500 Pharmacy graduates and students from the state for converging the spirits towards startups in Pharma, Medical Devices segments in Mfg, Quality Labs, QAQC, Regulatory, Clinical Trials, academic fields. Start Up Mission will host the one-day programme jointly with IPGA, Kerala and foster all the supports form Govt side to empower the Pharmacy Graduates to utilise the avenues available for Startups from the Govt. As of now, we have 750 startups in Medical Devices alone. 4. Physical meetings are planned in Thiruvananthapuram before 31st May involving Pharmacy professionals and Drugs Control Dept.

IPGA (Kerala State Branch) in association with IPGA (Central) organized a webinar on “Recent Trends in Quality Assurance in the In Vitro Diagnostic Reagents”. Dr. Atul Kumar Nasa, President, IPGA inaugurated the webinar and Mr. Jayan PM, Drugs Controller, Kerala State was the Guest of Honor in the function. Mr. Sanjaymon K R, Associate VP (Quality), AGAPPE delivered an excellent lecture on the topic. Participation of 200 plus participants across the country.

Alwar Pharmacy College, Alwar, in collaboration with IPGA, has organized online webinar in the Zoom portal, on 29 th January 2022 at 09:00 AM. The topic of the webinar was "Opportunities and Challenges to Indian Pharmacy Graduates in Post COVID scenario" Dr. Atul Kumar Nasa, President, IPGA has welcomed all three expert panelists and Dr. Arun Garg, General Secretary, IPGA has inaugurated the webinar. Dr. Monica Jain, Sr. Professor, Department of Pharmacology, SMS Medical College, Jaipur has presented a lecture in which she enlisted and explained “Key skills and knowledge for Pharmacist to play their role in healthcare team effectively”. She explained in detail all key skills required to Pharmacists and the ways to develop it in Pharmacists. Dr. Dheeraj Kaul, Board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine, Specialist in Pain Management and Nephrology, Based in New York, USA, also COVID Analyst has delivered the key note address on the theme of the webinar, "Opportunities and Challenges to Indian Pharmacy Graduates in Post COVID scenario" and very deeply explained with case study reports and with his vast medical experience, has thrown light on the opportunities for Pharmacists in Indian and International perspectives. He motivated the student attendees by enlightening on the scope of Pharmacy students in the next 10 years with evidences of data that projects the services of the Pharmacists in the future society. Also, he emphasized the knowledge set required in AI and ML areas, which are going to rule the Global Pharmaceutical market in the next decade. Dr Lokendra Sharma, Sr. Professor, Department of Pharmacology, SMS Medical College, Jaipur has talked about “Pharmacist’s role in Pharmacovigilance of COVID chemotherapeutics/ chemoprophylaxis” and he demonstrated his experiences with PvPI and the activities of Pharmacovigilance and Materiovigilance to report the Adverse Effects of Drugs and Medical Devices and the role of Pharmacists in the area. Also he appreciated the Pharmacoeconomic features mentioned by Dr. Dheeraj Kaul. Dr. G. Jeyabalan, Principal, Alwar Pharmacy College was the convener-cum-moderator for this webinar. Dr. Bharat Vashistha, Sh. Binod Kumar were appreciated the topics delivered by the speakers. Dr. Atul Kumar Nasa proposed Dr. Dheeraj Kaul to deliver a detailed lecture on Long Term COVID in the IPGA platform in the near future and has been immediately accepted by Dr. Kaul. The webinar was concluded with vote of thanks and chanting National Anthem.
