Recent Advances in Biological and Pharmaceutical Sciences At Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Virbhadra (Rishikesh)

Indian pharmacy graduate association has organized a National Conference on Recent Advances in Biological and Pharmaceutical Sciencesin association with Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Rishikesh at IDPL Guest House on5th December 2015. On this occasion approximately 70 delegates including educationists, scientists, and studentswere gathered from different places and presented their research work. The eventstarted with lamp lighting by Institute Chief Guest Dr. Y D Desai from USA accompanied with Mr. G. S. Bedi,General Manager, IDPL, Rishikesh, invited speakers Prof. R. C. Dubey, Mr.Pankaj Sharma, Director Smt. TarawatiInstitute of Biomedical & Allied Sciences, Roorkee, and Dr.Avtar Chand Rana, Director, Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. Program was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Y D Desai, America. In his inaugural speech he said all world is looking towards India for Innovations and discoveries in the field of pharmaceuticals as well as biological sciences. He also motivated the participants for doing better in their respective fields. He has also emphasized his concern toward less preventive diseases like CANCER and AIDS and asked the scholars to concentrate their works to prevention and cure of such diseases. He said a lot of work is required in this arena. During the program Prof. R. C. Dubey, Dean, Faculty of Medical sciences and Health, Gurukul Kangri Vishwadyalaya, HARIDWAR, was present on the occasion as Guest of Honour and he shared his vast knowledgeand experience on the fermentation technology. He also praised IDPL for providing such interactive platform tothe young and dynamic researches. The first prize was bagged by Ms. Reshma Kumari, Research Scholar of Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar. Chief Guest Mr. G. S. Bedi (General Manager, IDPL, Rishikesh ) accompanied by Professor R. C. Dubey and Mr. Pankaj Sharma distributed the prizes to winners of oral and poster competition. During this event Dr.Somesh Thapliyal, Dr.Saloni Kakkar, Dr.Vineet Mittal, Dr. Vijay Jyoti was also present. Mr. G. S. Bedi, General Manager, IDPL, Rishikesh and Dr.Avtar Chand Rana, Director, Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, congratulated the winners and thanks to delegates for using this event as a platform to showcase current research advancements in Biological and Pharmaceutical Sciences. This program was organized at IDPL, Rishikesh, under chairmanship of Mr G.S. Bedi, General Manager, IDPL, Rishikesh, coordinated by Mr. Kapil Kumar Goel and Mr Ashwani Jangra, Prince Prashant. Scientific session in the conference involved deliberations by invited educationists, scientists, and healthcare providers, Oral and Poster Presentations by delegates. Total seventy posters, five oral presentations and two speaker notes were presented by speakers and various delegates from different states MD University, Hariyana, Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun, HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar, Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, HARIDWAR and so on.

National Pharmacy Week Celebration IPGA sponsored Diabetes Awareness Program K.R. Mangalam University, Sohna Road, Gurgaon, Haryana

The School of Medical and Allied Sciences, K R Mangalam University, Sohna Road, Gurgaon celebrated IPGA Sponsored the National Pharmacy Week on 26th of November, 2016. Prof. Arun Garg (Dean, SMAS) gave a presentation on the theme of the National Pharmacy Week Program “Prevention and Management of Diabetes” and highlighted the role of Pharmacists in the management of diabetes to all faculty members and staff of the university in a lucid manner. He explained the types of diabetes mellitus (DM), its symptoms and complications in his presentation. He also suggested that certain precautions and dietary changes to avoid or manage Diabetes. Some of which are listed below: 1. Eat Healthy, natural fruits and vegetables (less carbohydrates and fats / oil.), stop eating Junk and processed food. 2. Reduce body weight 3. Stop smoking and drinking 4. Do regular exercise by running, aerobics, swimming etc. 5. Take diabetic medication regularly; Do not resort to alternative medicines without the consultation of doctor. 6. Regularly monitor blood glucose levels by glucometer. 7. Keep control over your blood pressure, cholesterol, foot and eye care. The program was attended by around 100 faculty members and staff. The open session was very interactive as Dr. Arun Garg satisfied all queries related to management of Diabetes. A health camp for screening of Diabetes was also organized by pharmacy students and the staff was screened for blood sugar, blood pressure and body mass index (BMI). All the staff appreciated the awareness camp and requested that such camps should be repeated every two months

NATIONAL PHARMACIST DAY AT SGT COLLEGE OF PHARMACY

Pharmacist Day is celebrated on 25th September every year in India with a view to make the public and healthcare professionals aware that pharmacists are an important part of the healthcare team. The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) released one poster on the theme, Pharmacist: Caring for you, to boost the morale of registered pharmacists / student pharmacists and in recognizing pharmacy profession in the society. Pharmacists represent the third largest healthcare professional group in the world and in India there are around 10 lakh registered pharmacists working in various positions, applying their unique knowledge and skills, contributing to the health of the nation. Since many pharmacists work silently behind the scenes, this day will definitely act as a boost for their morale. We at SGT College of Pharmacy, SGT University, Gurgaon, celebrated National Pharmacist Day by organizing a Preliminary Health Screening Camp for all the students, Staff and Faculty members.

National Conference on the topic “Issues and Challenges being faced by Pharma Profession at Glocal University, District Saharanpur

A national conference was held at Glocal University, Distt. Saharanpur on 19th Nov., 2016 on the topic "Issues and Challenges Being Faced by Pharma Profession". It was organized jointly by Glocal School of Pharmacy and IPGA Uttarakhand State Branch. Around 200 delegates drawn from various institutes imparting pharmacy education vizGlucal School of Pharmacy. Taramati Institute of Pharamceutical Research and Institute, Roorkee, GyaniInder Singh Institute of Pharmacy, Dehradun, Deptt. of Pharmacy, Kumaun University, Bhimtal, Guru Ram Rai Institute of Pharmacy, Dehradun, Himachal College of Pharmacy, Paunta Sahib etc. participated in the same. A few delegates drawn from the Pharma Industry were also present. IPGA Uttarakhand State Branch was represented by Shri G.S. Bedi, President, IPGA Uttarakhand State Branch and Shri Pankaj Sharma, Vice President, and Dr.KumudUpadhyay, Treasurer. From IPGA Central Executive Council (CEC) Shri BhanuDua and Shri PP Sharma, also attended and graced the occasion. Dr. Farooq, President Himalayan Drug Company was the Chief Guest. The Glocul University was represented by Mr. Abdul Wajid, Pro Chancellor, Dr. B.L. Raina, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Harsh, Additional Pro Chancellor, Dr.Pandurangan, Dean and Dr.Wasiyullah.
