D. Reform Goals 1.0 : The Conclusion by STUDENT FORUM

This was a special project initiated by IPGASF on the topic “Outlining and assessing the different means that people adopt to discard the unwanted or expired medicines on the grounds of rationality”. The agenda for the Pharmacy Reform Goal 2019 decided by IPGASF was Proper patient counseling on safe medication disposal as it is an alarming issue today and gaining more and more awareness from the healthcare professionals as well as consumers. There is a lack of awareness associated with appropriate disposal of expired, unwanted, and unused medications. Some international and national studies showed that most patients stored their medications improperly at home that may lead to undesirable effects or unintentional risks like improper self-medication, accidental overdose, and prescription drug abuse. After conducting a 4 month long descriptive study, the project was concluded on 6Th April, 2019 with a special presentation on correct methods of disposal of pharmaceutical waste.
